Configure General Subscription Settings 

Overview

Use the General Subscription Settings to manage how users subscribe to your channel. Control admin approvals, visibility on contact and subscriber profiles, automatic group additions, unsubscribe permissions, and opt-out preferences for notifications. These settings help ensure that your channel operates in accordance with your organization’s communication policies and user access preferences.

Step-by-step: 

  1. Click the Channels tab. The My Channels page opens. (Organization admins can use the All Channels tab.)

  2. Click the lens icon to search for your channel. Or browse the list to find it.

  3. Click the channel name. The channel details page opens.

  4. In the left navigation panel, click Subscription 

Subscription approval

  1. Under Subscription Approval Settings, select a radio button:

    • No Approval Required: Users subscribe without admin review.

    • Approval Required: Admins must approve all subscriptions.

Channel visibility

  1. Under Channel Visibility Settings, enable one or both checkboxes as needed:

    • Show the channel on the contact profile page — lets contacts view and subscribe from their profile.

    • Show the channel on the subscriber profile page — lets existing subscribers view and join from their subscriber profile.

Add subscribers to groups

  1. To add current and future subscribers to group(s):

  • Enable Add Subscriber to Group.

  • Open the Select Group dropdown and pick one or more groups.

  • Use Select All or Select None if you want to select or clear every group.

Note: If a subscriber opts out, the system removes them from groups added through this setting.

Prevent unsubscribing

  1. To block unsubscribe actions, enable either or both Channel Unsubscribe Settings checkboxes:

    • Do not allow subscribers to unsubscribe from this channel.

    • Do not allow recipient group contacts to unsubscribe from this channel.

Tip: Use the channel’s Unsubscribes page and the Subscribe Again option to resubscribe users who previously unsubscribed.

Opt-out settings (message types)

  1. Choose an Opt-out Settings option:

    • Allow Subscribers and Recipient Group Contacts to opt-out of notifications — contacts can opt out of non-urgent Email, SMS, or TTS; urgent messages still deliver.

    • Do not allow Subscribers and Recipient Group Contacts to opt-out of notifications — contacts cannot opt out by profile; they may still use certain SMS commands to opt out of SMS or TTS.

  2. Click Save to apply your changes.
