Configure RSS Publications for Groups or Channels

Overview

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) allows you to publish messages from channels or groups in a standardized XML-based feed. This makes it easy to share alerts across various systems and technologies, allowing you to send alerts or updates to desktop notifications or public-facing pages.

RSS publication is available as a free add-on. Once enabled, you can configure an existing or new channel or group to send RSS alerts. You can also use RSS feeds to power desktop notifications or publish alerts to a public-facing page.

Enable RSS Publications for a Group or Channel

You can enable RSS on both channels and groups. The process is similar for each.

  1. Go to the Channels tab to view the My Channels page.

  2. For groups, navigate to Recipients > My Groups or All Groups.

  3. Select the desired channel or group name to open its settings.

  4. Click the Publication tab in the left navigation panel.

  5. Check the Enable RSS to show all Messages box to activate RSS publication

  6. (Optional) Click Copy Link to use the feed URL for:

    • Desktop notifications

    • Public web pages

    • Other RSS-compatible platforms
      Note: To set up inbound RSS for desktop alerts, provide this link to the Regroup Support team

  1. (Optional) Select This RSS feed is used for Desktop Notification to mark the feed for desktop alerts.

    Channels with this setting appear in the Channels Configured for Desktop Notification section on the Desktop Notification add-ons page.

  2. Click Save to apply your settings.

Configure RSS Settings

  1. In the RSS Title Options section, choose one of the following:

    • Subject: Uses the message subject as the RSS feed title.

    • Default: Displays "{Topic owner name or Regroup} posted a message {Topic Subject} to the {Topic Channel Name} channel" as the title.

    • Body: Uses the message body as the RSS feed title.

  2. In the RSS Pubdate Format section, select Show timezone difference. (required for desktop notifications).

  3. In the RSS Displaying Options section, choose:

    • Disable HTML from displaying feed: Prevents HTML code from appearing in the RSS feed.

    • Disable topic links in RSS feed: Removes link tags from the RSS feed.

  4. Click Save to apply your settings.

Set Up Desktop Notifications

After configuring the RSS feed, please contact Customer Success to create a desktop notification user and an inbound RSS feed. The necessary user credentials will be provided. 

Tips

  • Create a dedicated channel or group for RSS feeds and set RSS as the default delivery method.

Organization admins can enable RSS publication for channels on the All Channels tab.
