# Launch an Incident

This topic explains how to launch an incident using predefined templates and describes the options available during the incident launch process.

Follow the steps to launch an incident:

1. In the header menu, click the **Launch Incident** dropdown, then select a favorite incident template.

   Click the **Launch Incident** button.
2. In **Choose Template**, select an already created incident template from the dropdown list. See the [Incident Templates](https://docs.regroup.com/docs/incident-templates/) topic for creating a new incident template.

   Upon selecting a template, all other configured parameters are automatically populated. These parameters include:
   
     - **Severity**: The severity level defined in the template, which can be Critical, High, Medium, or Low.
     - **Recipients**: Indicates the number of recipients included in this incident.
     - **Delivery Methods**: Displays the selected delivery methods and other delivery settings defined in the incident template.
     - **Sender Profile**: Displays the assigned sender profile.
     - **Message Contents**: Displays the configured message for the incident. This section includes the Message Title and the Message Body editor. You can also see the other settings defined in this section.
       
       **Note**: Incident Operators and Incident Managers, except the creator, can edit the above template parameters during incident launch only if permitted by the template configuration.

     - **Close the incident once it is sent**: If checked, the incident is automatically closed after the message is sent to the recipient(s).
     - **Schedule for Later**: Optionally, check this option to schedule the message for a specific time instead of sending it immediately. See the [Schedule an Incident](https://docs.regroup.com/docs/schedule-an-incident/) topic for additional information.

3. Click **Send Now**.
