[Microsoft Azure AD](https://resources.regroup.com/regroupkb/regroup-add-ons#microsoft-azure-ad) # Microsoft Azure AD (Entra ID): SCIM Integration SCIM, or the System for Cross-domain Identity Management specification, is an open user management API that enables automatic provisioning of contacts and groups between your application. With a standard design to manage user identity information, SCIM provides a defined schema for representing users and groups within Azure Active Directory. After you [enable and setup the AZURE AD add-on](https://docs.regroup.com/docs/setup-the-azure-ad-scim-user-provisioning-add-on/), do the following: #### **Creating the Regroup Non-Gallery application in Azure AD:** Log into your **Azure Active Directory Portal**, then click **Enterprise Applications** to navigate to Enterprise Applications page ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/1-3-1.png) Click Create Your Own Application. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/1_1.png) On the **Create your own Application** page, specify an application name and select the “Integrate with any other application you don’t find in the Gallery (non-Gallery)” option, and click Create. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/4_1-1.png) Within the newly created application, you will land on the application's **Overview** page. In the **Overview** page, click **Get Started** under **Provision User Accounts**. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/5_1.png) In the **Get Started with Application Provisioning** page, click **Connect Your Application** under **Create Configuration**. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/6_1.png) On the **New provisioning configuration** page, enter the **Tenant URL** and **Secret Token**. Copy these values from the **Regroup Azure Active Directory Add-on** and paste them into the corresponding fields. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/8_1.png) Click on **Test Connection**, and if no errors are found, select **Create**. Once created, the mapping may now take place. Mapping for groups has no configuration customization when connecting to Regroup. Rather, any Group identified in Azure can be added without edits. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/image-22.png) --- #### **Provisioning Attributes in Azure Active Directory Users:** Importing **Contacts** in Regroup requires a few changes, as not all attributes in Azure AD are necessary. Rather, you may select only those that are pertinent to the requirements and uses in mind for the Regroup Mass Notification Application. ***Administrative permissions to send notifications must be granted from the Regroup User Interface or utilizing a .csv file upload to complete the task in bulk.*** *For example, User Name, Active Status, DisplayName, Email, Given Name, Last Name, Phone Number (mobile and home), External ID (employee ID) and Physical Address.* Contacts will be created, deleted and updated from Azure in a one-way synchronization. Contacts manually created may have to be deleted manually from the Regroup User Interface. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/image-23.png) **Required fields** > \- Userprincipalname (Will populate the username – NOTE this mapping cannot be changed on Azure) > \- Email address (Primary and secondary addresses will be imported) > \- Given Name (first name) All other fields are **NOT** required; however, they may be important to accomplish the desired result. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/att-mapping.png) The application created will only import Active Users, and Non-Active Users will be removed from Regroup. In some circumstances, the **Userprincipalname** may be the same as the email. Please be aware that this will be the username when setting up the sync from Azure to Regroup. **A typical user mapping may appear as such:** | Azure AD | Regroup | | --- | --- | | userPrincipalName | Username | | givenName | First Name | | surname | Last Name | | telephoneNumber | Primary Phone Number | | mail | Primary Email | --- #### **User and Group Provisioning**: 1. Sync All Users and Groups from the AD. 2. Sync Only assigned Users and Groups from the AD. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/sync-assigned-users.png) Once the Non-Gallery Application is completed, it will form part of the **Enterprise Applications**: ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/enterprise-app.png) Once the Regroup Application has been selected, Start the Azure Provisioning by clicking the **“Start Provisioning”** button when you are ready. As you can see in this example, it was set up for an automatic update every 40 minutes. Synchronization can happen between 20-40 minutes at a time. *The sync will run when updates are done on Azure Active Directory within the above schedule.* The option **Provision on Demand** overrides the provisioning schedule, and sync's into Regroup when used. ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/provision1.png) Regroup Contacts are added and displayed on **Regroup** with “Joined By: Azure Ad”, and will have the time stamp for when it was added and last updated: ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/image-28.png) Expect an almost instant change to reflect in Regroup based on the interval cycle selected in Azure (20-40 min intervals are standard) **FTP / API processing styles will not affect the synchronization from Azure and is ADD-ONLY.** This means additions made in Regroup Contact profiles will not vanish during the Azure AD synchronization process. Emails and phone numbers can be deleted from Regroup on-demand, while additions will take place automatically. Provisioning Groups (Note): Maintenance is done on Azure AD. If a Group is removed from Regroup, it will be added back within the interval cycle. To ensure its deletion, please do so from Azure AD or change its active status. --- #### Customizing Attributes Attributes may be added and edited to match alternative attributes that are the default. Having the capacity of mapping, for example: displayName (Azure) to name.givenName (Regroup): ![](https://resources.regroup.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/edit-mapping2.png) --- #### Reporting: A complete log is sent to Azure AD directly by default and is available under the **“Provisioning Logs”** page.
