# Send Messages Using the Form Fields

You can send messages with form fields using only message templates. To create a message template using the required form fields, see the topic [Create Message Templates with Form Fields](https://docs.regroup.com/docs/create-message-templates-with-form-fields/).

**Note**: You cannot edit the message content of a form field template while sending the messages. You can update the message title and add form field values. 

The following procedure describes sending messages using a pre-saved message template. See the topic [Send New Messages](https://docs.regroup.com/docs/send-new-messages/), to learn about the options available for sending messages.

1. Click **New Message** button. See the following image:

   The post new message page opens.
2. From the **Message Type** section, select any of the following:
   
     - **Message to Channel**: Send the message to channels.
     - **Ad Hoc Messages**: Send messages to groups.
     - **Quick Messages**: if you have the quick message templates saved with form fields, you can send messages in a few clicks. For more information, see the topic: [How to send out quick message](https://docs.regroup.com/docs/send-quick-messages/)s.

       **Tip**: You can also select these message types directly from the New Message drop-down (**New Message**\> **Message to Channel**).
3. Add the **recipients**, **delivery method** and **sender profile**. See the topic [Send New Messages](https://docs.regroup.com/docs/send-new-messages/) for more details on these tasks.
4. In the **Message Content** section, click **Choose a Message Template** dropdown and select the Responsive Alert template you created. See the following image:

   The template populates the message title and content. All form field values get listed. See the following image:

   **Note**: You cannot update the content of a predefined message template.

5. Click the form field value drop-downs and select the required values. See the following image:

6. Click the **Enable auto-translation on this alert** check box to deliver the message in the contact’s preferred language.
7. You can click the **Schedule for later** checkbox to schedule sending the message.
8. You can click **Preview** to view how the message appears for the recipient.
9. Click **Send Now** to send the message instantly.
10. Click **Send** on the Post Confirmation pop-up. You get a summary of recipients per delivery method. 
    
    The recipient now receives the message with the form field values.

The Sent Messages page opens with the message you sent. You can view replies in the **Replies** tab and respond to them. You can click the **Reports** tab to see message delivery reports.
