SMS Error Codes

The following table lists some of the significant SMS error codes.

Status Code Description
failed 9999 Unknown error from downstream. Carrier reported a failure code that is unknown to aggregator
sent 9902 Timed out waiting for delivery receipt. The reason a delivery receipt was not received is not known
failed 5650 Carrier Service Failure. Destination failed
failed 5630 Carrier Application Error. Message not acknowle
failed 5620 Carrier Application Error. Destination app error
failed 5610 Carrier Service Failure
failed 5600 Carrier Service Unavailable
failed 5999 Unknown error from aggregator
failed 5501 General Message Send Failure. The message is unable to send as no destination is available
failed 5500 General Message Send Failure. The destination carrier has reported a general service failure with sending the message
failed 5231 Aggregator did not receive all parts of message. Message can not be sent
failed 5220 Message not received. Cannot save message to store
failed 5211 Aggregator service application is temporarily busy so it cannot receive messages at this time
failed 5201 Aggregator service expired the message after attempts to deliver through retries failed
failed 5111 Received messaged for connection which is already removed
failed 5106 Impossible to route / Attempt to deliver through retries has failed

failed 412 SMSC rejected the message. The account hasn’t been provisioned for this region.
failed 411 Message failed as the number of message parts exceeds the defined max number of message parts.
failed 410 No default originator exists/configured for this recipient when sending message without originator.
failed 408 SMSC rejected the message. Retrying is likely to cause the same error.
failed 407 Message was canceled by user before reaching SMSC.
failed 406 Message was expired before reaching SMSC. This may happen if the expiry time for the message was very short.
failed 405 One or more parameters in the message body has no mapping for this recipient
failed 404 Message failed because of temporary delivery failure. Message can be retried.
failed 403 An unexpected error caused the message to fail.
failed 402 SMSC rejected message. Retrying is likely to cause the same error.
sent 401 Message has been dispatched to SMSC.
in_progress 400 Message is queued within REST API system and will be dispatched according to the rate of the account.
