Understanding Regroup IPAWS Alert

Certified public safety officials at all levels of government can send IPAWS messages to warn citizens through Regroup.

Note: Regroup provides IPAWS as a premium add-on. You must contact Regroup to activate it.

Complete steps one to three of the procedure: Sign Up to Use IPAWS to Send Public Alerts and Warnings to get the digital certificates or IPAWS keys from FEMA. You can send the IPAWs alerts only after adding the digital certificate or IPAWS keys to the Regroup application and getting Public Alerting permission from FEMA.

In the IPAWS section of the Regroup application,  you can do the following:

• Add and Manage the IPAWs Keys

Note: After adding the keys to the Regroup application, you must Apply for Public Alerting Permissions (Step 4 of this procedure) to start alerting the public. You can send public alerts and warnings in your geographically prescribed areas only after FEMA implements specific alerting permissions and adds them to the IPAWS-OPEN per your COG.

• Create IPAWS Template and Send Message Using Templates

• Monitor Sent Alerts

• View Incoming Alerts

After setting up the IPAWS keys and getting Public Alerting permission, you can send the IPAWS alerts. To send alerts, see the topic Send the IPAWS (Integrated Public Alert and Warning System) Alerts.
