Import of Channels Using CSV File (Web UI)

Overview

You can create multiple channels at once by importing a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. This method helps administrators quickly create channels in bulk instead of creating them individually.

The CSV file contains the channel names and attributes. During the import process, the system maps the CSV columns to the corresponding fields in the application before creating the channels.


Import Channels from a CSV File

  1. Open the Channels tab.

  2. Organization administrators can access channels from the All Channels tab. Channel administrators access channels from the My Channels tab only.

  3. Select Create a Channel in the top-right corner.

  4. Select Import CSV File.

  5. (Optional) Click Download an example csv if you need the template. Populate the file with your data and save it.

  6. Select Browse, then choose the prepared CSV file from your computer.

  7. Select Upload.  The system loads the file and displays the data in the Map Your Data section.

  8. Review the detected records and verify the number of channels recognized by the system. 

  9. If the first row of the CSV contains column headers, enable Skip importing the first-row.

    (This option prevents header values from being imported as channel data. The option is enabled by default.)

  10. Map each CSV column to the appropriate system field using the Assign Contact Attribute dropdown.

    (Note: You can click remove to delete the uploaded CSV if needed).

  11. Select Add Channels.
    A confirmation message appears after the channels are created.

Import Results

  • After the channels are processed, the system displays a confirmation message in the top-right corner of the page indicating that the channels were created successfully.

  • The message confirms the number of channels successfully processed.

  • If the CSV file contains formatting or validation issues, the system displays an error message instead of the confirmation message. The message lists the specific channels that could not be processed and describes the errors detected during the data-mapping process. These details help identify and correct issues in the CSV file before attempting the import again.
